Abstract
|
|
|
We experienced two cases of rupture of patellar tendon in otherwise healthy child. Rupture of patellar tendon can occur after prolonged administration of corticosteroids for conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus
and
in a
patient with chronic renal failure, and in a patient with diabetes mellitus. A flexion movement against a contracted or contracting quadriceps muscle is thought to have been the mechanism of injury. Disruption of the extensor mechanism of the
knee
most
commonly involves fracture of the patella. Less frequently, patellar tendon is tendon is ruptured either spontaneously or by trauma.
